PS5 SSD height: the 11.25mm rule

The PS5 Slim's expansion bay is tighter than the original console's, so some third-party heatsinks that just fit an original PS5 will not close on a Slim. If you own a Slim, prefer a drive with a heatsink explicitly sized for the PS5, or a slim flat plate.

We build the list below by checking each drive's title and product data for a low-profile or PS5-designed heatsink that fits inside the 11.25 mm envelope. Listings do not always state the exact stacked height, so where a height is not given we include drives sold with a fitted low-profile PS5 heatsink and exclude anything that is clearly a tall finned or tower cooler.

If in doubt, the manufacturer's stated height is what counts. Confirm the listed height before you buy, especially for the PS5 Slim, where the bay clearance is tighter. Treat this as a strong shortlist rather than a guarantee for every individual listing.
