Is the MSI Spatium M480 Pro compatible with the PS5?
MSI lists 7,400 MB/s read and 7,000 MB/s write (6,000 MB/s write at 1TB) with 700 TBW per terabyte. The HS version measures 80.4 x 23 x 20.4mm. The M480 Pro PLAY, a different SKU, is 10.7mm tall and described by MSI as PS5 compatible.
Does the MSI Spatium M480 Pro fit with its heatsink?
Do not buy the heatsink version of the MSI Spatium M480 Pro for a PS5. Its cooler is about 20.4mm tall, well over the console's 11.25mm ceiling, so the bay cover will not close. Sony's limit is 11.25mm total thickness and 25mm width (see Sony's M.2 SSD requirements).
The bare version is the one that works: fit a low-profile heatsink to it. We leave the too-tall heatsink listings out of the table below. See the 11.25mm height guide for what fits.
