Samsung 990 Pro and PS5 compatibility
Samsung's Gen4 flagship. The heatsink SKU (model codes ending CW) measures 80 x 24.3 x 8.2mm on Samsung's datasheet, inside Sony's 11.25mm ceiling and 25mm width limit. The bare SKU (codes ending BW) needs a low-profile heatsink added.
Will it fit under the PS5 cover?
The heatsink version of the Samsung 990 Pro is 8.2mm tall and fits the PS5 expansion bay, on the PS5, PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro. For reference, Sony's M.2 SSD requirements allow a module up to 11.25mm thick and 25mm wide.
The bare version works too, but Sony requires a heat dissipation structure, so pair it with a low-profile heatsink. Listings on this page are tagged "Fits PS5" when they are the heatsink version of this model. For more on the rule see the 11.25mm height guide.
