The 990 EVO Plus in a PS5: what to know
Samsung's mainstream drive, DRAM-less with a host memory buffer. The 1TB model is rated slightly lower at 7,150 MB/s. There is no Samsung heatsink version, so budget for a slim third-party heatsink.
Heatsink and fit
There is no heatsink edition of the Samsung 990 EVO Plus. You will need to fit a slim M.2 heatsink before installing it, because Sony does not permit an uncooled drive. Sony's limit is 11.25mm total thickness and 25mm width (see Sony's M.2 SSD requirements).
Coolers sold for the job are listed under standalone PS5 heatsinks; the measurement itself is explained in the 11.25mm height guide.
