Frequently asked questions
990 EVO Plus or 990 Pro: which should I put in my PS5?
Pick the Samsung 990 Pro for a heatsink version that is known to fit the bay. On loading times the two are level in a PS5, so a clear price advantage for the 990 EVO Plus would tip it the other way.
Does the 990 EVO Plus or the 990 Pro cost less right now?
Today only the 990 Pro has a compatible new listing in stock, at £424.87 (£212.44/TB), as of 21 October 2026.
Do games load faster on the 990 EVO Plus or the 990 Pro?
In practice they are level. The 990 EVO Plus quotes 7,250 MB/s and the 990 Pro 7,450 MB/s, and both are past the point where extra speed shortens PS5 loading.
Do the 990 EVO Plus and 990 Pro both fit the PS5 with a heatsink?
Samsung 990 EVO Plus: none, sold bare. Samsung 990 Pro: version fits (8.2mm). Sony's limit is 11.25mm total thickness, so a bare drive needs a low-profile heatsink added.
