Ways to add more
An M.2 SSD in the expansion slot is the only way to add space that PS5 games can run from: see which SSD is compatible with the PS5 and 2TB PS5 SSDs. A USB drive can hold PS5 games in storage and run PS4 games: see external drives for the PS5.

Frequently asked questions

Part of the drive is reserved for the system software and its updates, leaving about 667GB for games, saves and captures.
How many games fit on a standard PS5?

What is the most storage a PS5 can have?
The built-in drive plus one M.2 SSD of up to 8TB, with a further USB drive of up to 8TB for archiving.
