1TB is enough if you keep a small rotation of games. It holds about 13 big games at an average of 75GB each, on top of what the console already has. If you keep a library installed, 2TB is the better buy and usually costs less per terabyte. Cheapest today: Kingston NV3 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Internal SSD 1TB M.2 2280-SNV3S/1000G at £129.98 (£129.98/TB), as of 21 October 2026.

1TB or 2TB?
Check price per terabyte, not the sticker. Today the cheapest compatible 1TB drive works out at £129.98/TB. Compare that with 2TB PS5 SSDs: when 2TB is cheaper per terabyte, the larger drive is the better value even if you do not need the space yet.

Frequently asked questions
How many PS5 games fit on 1TB?
About 13 at an average of 75GB each. Games over 100GB bring that down.
Is 1TB enough for GTA 6?
Yes for the game itself. Rockstar has not confirmed its size, but even at 150GB or more a 1TB drive holds it with room for around ten other big games.
What does a 1TB PS5 SSD cost today?
Cheapest today: Kingston NV3 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Internal SSD 1TB M.2 2280-SNV3S/1000G at £129.98 (£129.98/TB), as of 21 October 2026.
Should I buy 1TB now and upgrade later?
The PS5 has one M.2 slot, so upgrading means replacing the drive. If you expect to need 2TB, buy it first.
