Telling Samsung's heatsink SKUs apart
It is easy to order the wrong one: Samsung's bare and heatsink listings read almost the same. Each has a different model code, and that code or the title is what we go by. Product descriptions are ignored for this, because a bare drive's description often advertises the heatsink edition.
Of the 7 Samsung heatsink listings in stock, 7 are tagged "Fits PS5". If the heatsink version costs much more than the bare drive, compare with bare PS5 SSDs plus a slim standalone heatsink.

Can I take the heatsink off a Samsung SSD?
Leave it on. A factory heatsink is bonded to the drive, and forcing it off risks the chips and the warranty. Choose the bare SKU if you prefer your own cooler.
