Heatsinks for a PS5 Slim SSD

The limits a PS5 heatsink has to meet

From Sony's M.2 SSD requirements. A bare M.2 drive is about 2.2 to 3.5mm thick, which leaves roughly 7mm for a top heatsink and its pad.

Before you buy

We leave cover-replacement designs off this page. They are shaped for a particular console's bay cover, so check the maker's compatibility list for the Slim before buying one. A clamp-on plate avoids the question.

These are listed on the strength of their own product titles, not on measurements of ours. Prices here run from £4.27 upward. Before you order, add the pad thickness to the heatsink's stated height and compare the total with the limit.

The table gives a heatsink's height only where its title or feature list states one. Fits PS5 means a stated height of 8.0mm or less, which is all Sony allows above the circuit board. From 8.0mm to 11.25mm the mark reads Check total height with your drive, and anything over 11.25mm is marked Too tall. Of the 52 listed today, 11 fit, 5 need checking against your drive, 5 are too tall and 31 state no height. The 8.0mm also has to cover the drive's own chips and the thermal pad, so with a cooler close to that figure, look for a listing that says its height includes them.
