There is no special PS5 type of SSD. The console takes the same M.2 NVMe SSDs as a PC. A drive sold as a PS5 SSD is a normal Gen4 drive, usually bundled with a low-profile heatsink that fits the console's bay. Any PC drive that meets Sony's requirements works.

What the PS5 adds to the usual checklist
| Factor | PC | PS5 |
|---|---|---|
| Interface | Gen3, Gen4 or Gen5 | Gen4 or newer only |
| Speed | Any | 5,500 MB/s or faster recommended |
| Heatsink height | Usually unrestricted | 11.25mm total, 25mm wide |
| Capacity | Any | 250GB to 8TB |

Why PC heatsink versions often fail
The same drive can come with two heatsinks: a tall one for PC motherboards and a low one for consoles. A tall PC heatsink will not let the bay cover close. See the 11.25mm height guide.
