Why the Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 works
On paper there is nothing doubtful about it: Gen4 NVMe, 7,400 MB/s, against a recommendation of 5,500 MB/s in Sony's M.2 SSD requirements. The question gets asked because it is priced like a budget drive, or because an earlier model with a similar name fell short.
Two different Sabrent drives share this name. The current Rocket 4 is a DRAM-less drive whose own Amazon.co.uk listing states 7,400 MB/s read and 6,400 MB/s write. The 2019 Rocket NVMe 4.0, built on the Phison E16 controller, is rated at 5,000 and 4,400 MB/s. Check the model code and the stated speed before buying second hand.
Cooling the Rocket NVMe 4.0 in a PS5
For reference, Sony's M.2 SSD requirements allow a module up to 11.25mm thick and 25mm wide. The Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 ships without a heatsink, so the cooler is yours to add and must keep the stack inside those figures.
Start with the 11.25mm height guide, then pick from standalone PS5 heatsinks.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 work in a PS5?
Yes. Works and meets spec, if it is the current model. Sabrent's Rocket 4 (code SB-RKT4L) is listed at 7,400 MB/s read, above Sony's recommendation. The older Rocket NVMe 4.0 from 2019 reads at 5,000 MB/s and is below it.
Does the Rocket NVMe 4.0 trigger the PS5's slow read speed notice?
It should pass the console's own read test, which runs at the end of formatting.
What should I buy instead of the Rocket NVMe 4.0?
None is needed. This drive passes. Look elsewhere only if you would rather have a heatsink fitted at the factory.
Does the Sabrent Rocket NVMe 4.0 work in the PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro?
The answer is the same on every model. The PS5, PS5 Slim and PS5 Pro share one M.2 slot specification, so a drive that works in one works in all, subject to the heatsink fitting.
