Figures are the maker's published "up to" ratings, checked October 2026 against the maker's spec sheet.
Is the PNY CS2150 compatible with the PS5?
PNY rates the 2TB model at 10,300 MB/s read and 8,600 MB/s write, and the 1TB at 10,200 and 8,300 MB/s. PNY says it is designed to run without a heatsink in a PC; Sony still requires one in the console.
The PNY CS2150 is a PCIe Gen5 drive, and the PS5 expansion bay is a Gen4 slot. The drive negotiates down and behaves like a fast Gen4 drive in the console, so its 10,300 MB/s rating is never reached there. It makes sense only if the drive will also live in a Gen5 PC. More in is a Gen5 SSD worth it for the PS5.
Does the PNY CS2150 fit with its heatsink?
There is no heatsink edition of the PNY CS2150. You will need to fit a slim M.2 heatsink before installing it, because Sony does not permit an uncooled drive. Sony's limit is 11.25mm total thickness and 25mm width (see Sony's M.2 SSD requirements).
Coolers sold for the job are listed under standalone PS5 heatsinks; the measurement itself is explained in the 11.25mm height guide.
