The P510 in a PS5: what to know
A mainstream Gen5 drive rated at 11,000 MB/s read. Retailers describe the heatsink version as PS5 compatible, but we have not found a published height, so its fit is marked unconfirmed.
The Crucial P510 is a PCIe Gen5 drive, and the PS5 expansion bay is a Gen4 slot. The drive negotiates down and behaves like a fast Gen4 drive in the console, so its 11,000 MB/s rating is never reached there. It makes sense only if the drive will also live in a Gen5 PC. More in is a Gen5 SSD worth it for the PS5.
Heatsink and fit
For reference, Sony's M.2 SSD requirements allow a module up to 11.25mm thick and 25mm wide. We could not verify where the Crucial P510's own heatsink version falls against that, which is why it is tagged "Check height".
Compare the listing's stated height with the limit before ordering, or sidestep the question with a bare drive and a cooler from the 11.25mm height guide.
