Is the Sabrent Rocket 5 compatible with the PS5?
Sabrent's Gen5 drive, launched in February 2024 at up to 14,000 MB/s. Gen5 controllers run hot, so a good slim heatsink matters.
One caveat applies to every Gen5 drive, this one included: Sony's slot is Gen4. In a PS5 the Sabrent Rocket 5 links at Gen4 speed and its 14,000 MB/s headline figure goes unused. Buy it for the console only if it will later move to a Gen5 PC. See is a Gen5 SSD worth it for the PS5.
Does the Sabrent Rocket 5 fit with its heatsink?
Sony's limit is 11.25mm total thickness and 25mm width (see Sony's M.2 SSD requirements). The Sabrent Rocket 5 ships without a heatsink, so the cooler is yours to add and must keep the stack inside those figures.
Start with the 11.25mm height guide, then pick from standalone PS5 heatsinks.
